Dream A Little Dream Of Me

 There’s something in the water over on Twitter , well there is in my little corner of it anyway …………sex dreams 

Oh that got your attention didn’t it ! 

A few people have said that in the last few weeks their nighttime hours have been spent having sex dreams involving people they know or people that they follow on Twitter , sometime multiple people in the same dream and there was a bit of talk about being to embarrassed to admit to the person involved 

But why is that ? Dreams are your subconscious working things out while you get rest ,they don’t necessarily mean that you want to hop into bed with a follower 

If you had a dream about chasing an elephant who was stealing your custard while you were trying to teach penguins how to do bricklaying you wouldn’t think anything of it (apart from maybe wondering if you needed some mental help) but when it’s a sex dream you automatically wonder if it really means something ! 

I have had dreams about some of my Twitter followers but not sex based ones , I also have dreams about people I went to school with and haven’t seen for 40 years and dreams about my dogs doing a poo all over the bedroom carpet and having to clean it up , yes some people get sex dreams , I get poo ones !!!! 

I don’t sleep that well so when I do sleep I tend to go deep and really dream and they are usually quite trippy , think Yellow Submarine times 1000 so I’d actually quite welcome a sex dream once in a while , if only to relax a bit 

So if you’ve had that kind of dream about me , don’t be embarrassed, I hope we had fun , I hope it was good and you woke up with a smile on your face xx 

Mad dogs ………….

 I joked yesterday that I was going to write a blog about climate change given as how we are about to be hit by the hottest weather since forever but I actually know nothing about it , I’m not scientifically minded , I know when it’s hot and I know when it’s cold and that’s enough for me ! 

What I do know is that my dogs don’t like the hot weather , they are restless , can’t get comfortable and just generally can’t be bothered when the temperature gets to a certain point , being short nosed dogs they are unable to get enough cool air into their nostrils and that makes them vulnerable to heatstroke 

And that brings me to the point of this blog (about time you say ?) 

There are still people around who think it’s okay to take their dogs out for walks when it’s this hot , dragging them round the parks or the streets as they pant , trying to keep a little bit cool 

And the people who take their dogs everywhere (she doesn’t like to be apart from me) but then leave them in the car while they ‘just pop to the shops , I’ll only be a minute’

What is actually going through these peoples minds , have they got a brain ? Walking on hot pavement with bare paws is torture for a dog and can cause blistering and burns on the pads of the feet , exercise in hot weather can lead to collapse and death and leaving a dog in a car in this weather is criminal , it’s basically boiling your dog from the inside 

A slightly opened window does not make it okay , except it may make it slightly easier for a concerned passer by to break into your car and free your poor hound 

I know it’s not always possible to take your dog out in the early hours or extra late at night but to be honest it’s not going to be much cooler then so here’s an idea ……..why not skip the walk completely!! Your dog will not suffer from missing a days walk , even 2 or 3 days and you are doing the right thing in terms of their wellbeing 

So just be careful , be sensible and if I see you walking your dog in the heat or leaving it in the car , you’re going to learn a few new swear words and I won’t be at all apologetic xx 

Platonic with a capital P

“Do you think it's possible for 2 people to have a general conversation about sex & technique without one trying it on with the other, or at least wanting to and/or wondering what they're like?”

This question was on my Twitter feed last night and it’s a question I have always found fascinating myself 

For years films have had us believe that in every ‘platonic’ male and female friendship there is one that secretly fancies the other and they do usually end up falling for each other in the end 

Even in ‘When Harry Met Sally’ the film that asked that very question ‘Can a man and a woman ever just be friends ?’ they made Billy Crystal fall for Meg Ryan in the end (don’t tell him about her various screen liaisons with Tom Hanks , it would break his heart) 

Personally I’ve always got on better with men than women , I think it is because I was bought up with 2 older Brothers and was used to their friends being around all the time 

I got very good at standing my ground and answering back to their teasing and banter and never wondered about them intimately at all , they were mates not lads ! 

I do have women friends obviously but I always feel I can’t open up quite as much with them as male friends , there seems an undercurrent of judgement from some of them and there is always the potential for bitchy comments ….you don’t get that with men !! 

At school I was the girl that the lads came too when they were having problems with their girlfriends , totally friendzone stuff and I’ll admit I did fancy some of them , of course I did . I had some lads crying in my arms over a girl that had upset them , I got to see their vulnerable side which I don’t think many other girls do at that age , they only saw the macho ‘trying to impress’ side 

Some girls and later women weren’t keen on their men having a female friend and didn’t quite get that I wasn’t a threat to their relationship at all , if anything I gave the lads a female perspective that might have helped ! 

So onto the present day and that question on Twitter , I replied that I do have those conversations with male friends and from my point of view it’s quite comfortable and I have no thoughts about seeing them naked at all and that’s the honest truth but also I said that that was only my side of it and I could not speak for my friends 

Then this morning the subject came up with one of my male friends who had seen that tweet and he said he feels exactly the same , he loves the fact that he can speak openly and honestly about more or less anything in his life with me and he knows there will be no judgement, no awkwardness and no sexual tension . He confirmed to me that he has absolutely no desire in seeing my bits either and just doesn’t think of me in that way , in fact we agreed that it would feel a bit like incest , very yucky and wrong and our friendship is worth way more than anything else !! 

So to confirm , men and women CAN be just friends, they can share their thoughts and feelings about intimate matters and still maintain the barriers of a platonic friendship 

Yes there can be harmless joking and flirting but that’s it , absolutely nothing else  xx

The Munch Bunch and other inanimate talking objects

 I have been looking again at my blog posts from the start and have been amazed by the variety of things that I have written about 

Initially this started out as a way to write about things I liked , things that interested me and my general observations on things but obviously there are only so many topics like that 

I’m not one to write about my feelings , my emotions, quite honestly my daily journal has enough of that stuff in it (yawn) 

I confess since I was a small child I have always wanted to write a book , actually I did write several , mainly about talking vegetables or fruit (inspired by the Munch Bunch) or other inanimate objects coming to life ….yeah I don’t think the world needs more stories like that and as I was only in primary school I don’t think many editors would take me seriously 

Then as a 20 something at the height of the ‘chick lit’ phenomenon I thought a diary type book would be a great idea ……okay Helen Fielding beat me to that with Bridget Jones and several other people produced their own less successful versions followed up by girl finds boyfriend , girl organises wedding , girl has a baby , girl gets a divorce , girl starts dating again books 

I’m interested in Criminology, forensics and pathology but I feel that you need way more knowledge than I have to even attempt to write a novel on these subjects , in fact most authors in this genre have worked in the field prior to their writing careers , the same with law based or police books 

This has always been my issue , I’d like to write a book (and with self publishing now a thing it’s got easier to get your work out there) but I have never ever had an idea that I could put on paper , I think I would end up plagiarising something I had already read or creating something so mundane and boring that I would sell just one copy ……..to my Mum !! (Oh okay , I’d give her a copy obviously) 

So once again the idea of book writing is put on hold , maybe one day a spark of an idea will come to me and I’ll just have to write it , but until then I apologise, you’re stuck with ‘My Mad Ramblings’ on here !!! Xx 

A reflection

I last wrote a blog post on here in February 2020 

The world was a much different place , there were rumblings of a disease in China but that would never affect us here would it ?        We’d heard it before with SARS , bird flu , Ebola , all the fuss in the papers and then thankfully nothing 

But pretty soon it was clear that we wouldn’t get away with it this time 

Cases in the thousands daily , people dying , at first said just to be the elderly and ill but soon it was obvious that this was a disease that would take anyone 

Restrictions put in place to curb the spread , masks to be worn , hand washing to the tune of ‘Happy Birthday’ , all of these things desperately trying to halt Covid 19 

And yet people died , people died alone in hospitals due to the restrictions on visitors , nurses being the only witnesses to final moments and then having to break that terrible news multiple times a day                    People died in care homes , this disease spreading amongst the most vulnerable in society 

We clapped , we stood on our doorsteps on a Thursday night and clapped for health care workers , carers , emergency services , essential workers but let’s be honest that was to make us feel we were doing something, it didn’t help them at all and their pay didn’t reflect the risks to themselves and their families 

And then as numbers slowly dropped we began to return to ‘normal’ life , , pubs reopened , we were allowed to mix with a few others but still life wasn’t as it was before                   We were told to ‘Eat Out To Help Out’ the hospitality sector which had lost all trade for months and then when cases rose again we were told to stop doing this again 

As winter approached a vaccination was developed , first given to the most vulnerable and then rolled out to everyone in decreasing ages groups , but still this wasn’t enough to prevent another lockdown shortly after Christmas 2021 

As we stand now in May 2022 most people who want it have had 3 vaccinations , some people are back to work in an office , some will probably never return to that structure , working life has changed completely and many people are assessing their work / life balance and finding that work isn’t quite as important as they once thought

People ARE still getting Covid 19 ,its various strains popping up every now and again to cause fear once again , the elderly and vulnerable still have to be careful where they go , who they mix with and many still wear masks to protect themselves and those they love 

Life will never be the same as it was 2 years ago , for those who have lost loved ones , for those who are left with debilitating after effects and for those who have suffered mental health issues due to the isolation lockdown xx
